Format selection by application
Stand-up pouches: Best for retail display across coffee, tea, snacks, supplements, and pet food. Features a curved bottom gusset that expands when filled.
Flat-bottom pouches: Ideal for premium specialty coffee, high-end food, and supplements. Offers 5 printable surfaces (front, back, two side gussets, and base) and maximum structural stability on shelf.
Quad-seal & side-gusset pouches: Designed for high-volume items (1kg+, 5lb bags, wholesale dry goods, and bulk pet care) requiring reinforced vertical edges.
Flat pouches: A 3-side seal with versatile functionality. A cost-effective option for sample packs, sachets, flat products, or inner packaging that doesn't require upright shelf presentation.
Spout & vacuum pouches: Specialised formats for liquids, refills, pastes, or vacuum-sealed perishables requiring air removal or precise dispensing.

What's the difference between a stand-up pouch and a flat bottom pouch?

A stand-up pouch has a curved gusseted base, it stands upright on shelf and works well across almost every product category. A flat bottom pouch has a flat rectangular base, giving it five printable panels (front, back, two sides, and base), stronger shelf presence, and a more premium feel. If you're in specialty coffee, high-end food, or supplements, the flat bottom pouch is increasingly the default. If you want the most versatile, cost-effective starting point, start with the stand-up.
What sized pouch do I need, and do you do custom sizes?

Grounded offers fully customised pouches for orders of 6,000+ units, giving you freedom to prescribe your dimensions. We can supply existing customer samples to help guide you with sizing, and can provide custom samples to finalise the dimensions of your pouch.
Can you add a view window to pouches?

Yes, three ways: a printed window (most affordable, works with any material), a strip window (a physical horizontal slot), or a die-cut window (any shape). If you need high barrier, go with the printed option.
What is the difference between compostable and recyclable pouches?

Recyclable pouches are engineered from single-material polymers (mono-materials) to be recovered and remanufactured through dedicated soft-plastic recycling programs. Compostable pouches are made from plant-based polymers designed to biodegrade into natural organic matter in certified home or industrial composting conditions. Because they rely on separate processing streams, mixing them contaminates both recycling and composting outputs.
Are Grounded Packaging pouches FDA-certified and food-safety compliant?

Yes, however, food-contact suitability must be confirmed for the specific finished structure, food type, conditions of use and destination market. Our pouches meet US (FDA) and EU food-contact standards. We can provide a Declaration of Compliance for your specific material and market. Just ask. Can I get a sample of pouches before I commit to production?

Yes. For custom orders, you'll receive a printed proof before full production begins. Nothing goes to print without your sign-off.
