Why Grounded

Durable first, sustainable with it

Garden products are heavy, often abrasive, and frequently displayed outdoors, so the packaging has to hold up before anything else. Many brands arrive wanting compostable, but moisture content and shelf life usually decide the material, and we sample before we commit when product compatibility is uncertain.

Chemical and moisture compatibility

Structures matched to soil, compost and fertiliser, sampled and tested where moisture or microbial activity could degrade the pack before use.

Carry economics

Die-cut and moulded handles, larger formats and the right structure for heavy fills, so the pack carries well and ships efficiently.

Design for premium positioning

Full custom print with UV-stable inks built to last through outdoor retail display, so premium brands look the part on the shelf.

Materials, impact & price

Sustainable materials with verified impact

Garden products are heavy, often abrasive and frequently displayed outdoors, so the packaging has to hold up before anything else. Many brands arrive expecting compostable, but moisture content and shelf life usually decide the material, and we will tell you straight, sampling before we commit when compatibility is uncertain.

We engineer for durability, moisture resistance and UV stability first, then work with you to find the right sustainable spec for your product, your format and the market you sell into. You see the options together: the materials, their impact data and the price per unit, all in one conversation. No hidden trade-offs and no golden ticket, just informed decisions based on evidence.

Wastemade

Recyclable PCR laminate

The most reliable choice for durability, moisture resistance and print, GRS certified. Default for compost, fertiliser and high-moisture soil.

Recyclable bio-based laminate

A plant-based origin story with better durability than compostable, recyclable in the PE stream, bio-based content.

Plantmade

Compostable laminate

Only for low-moisture products where shelf life fits, and only after sampling, because moisture in compost can degrade the structure before use.

Got garden packaging questions? Here's the answers.

Can we use compostable packaging for compost and soil?

Usually not. Compostable films break down when exposed to moisture and microbial activity, which is exactly what compost and damp soil provide, so the pack can degrade before it is used. Compostable only suits low-moisture garden products with short shelf lives, and only after sampling. For compost, soil and fertiliser, recyclable PCR is the reliable choice.

What's the most sustainable option if compostable isn't suitable?

A recyclable mono-material PE structure with up to 70% post-consumer recycled content, GRS certified. It is durable, moisture-resistant and recyclable via soft-plastics collection in formats up to 20kg. Bio-based Green PE (verified to ASTM D6866) offers a plant-based story with the same recyclability and improved durability than compostable.

What format suits heavy soil and compost products?

Flat-bottom pouches suit premium retail garden products, and heavy-duty mono-material recyclable bags carry grass seed, compost and fertiliser up to 20kg. Die-cut and moulded handles solve carry on larger formats (a one-off mould fee applies), with structures specified for puncture resistance and rough retail handling.

Will the print survive outdoor display?

Yes. Rotogravure printing with protective laminate construction withstands outdoor garden-centre display, resisting scuffing, moisture and fading through a full retail season. Tell us the display environment and we confirm the right construction during specification.

What are your minimum order quantities?

Garden packaging MOQs start at 6,000 units for digitally printed pouches and 10,000 for rotogravure. Large-format heavy-duty bags and rollstock are quoted based on your specific requirements. Where product compatibility is uncertain, especially high-moisture compost, we sample and test before production.

Ready for garden packaging that lasts?

Durable, moisture-resistant formats in recycled, bio-based and compostable options, matched to shelf life and built for outdoor display.
