Potatoes

Potatoes are a widely cultivated crop, and their by-products, including potato starch, are often considered waste materials that are discarded. However, this waste can be a valuable ingredient in sustainable packaging.

One way is using potato starch derived from the potato plant. The starch can be moulded into various shapes and forms to create compostable materials.

The other is employing the potato peels and other residual materials from potato processing to create cellulose fibres which can be combined with other plant-based materials to form packaging.
