Recyclable plastic

Recyclable in the plastic waste stream.

Recycling is an important part of a functioning circular economy. Most types of plastic are readily recyclable but only when used on their own, and a lot of packaging incorporates multiple different layers of different types of material, effectively rendering them non-recyclable.

Plastic recyclability depends on the type of plastic, but if processed correctly, plastics such as PET, HDPE and LDPE can be recycled several times without impacting their functional properties.

In order to help develop a functional recycling industry, we have to design materials and structures that are able to be recycled in the first place, and there is a long way to go to ensure this is the case.

This sustainability tag indicates a completely recyclable material. Not just part of it.
