High-barrier Moulded Fibre
Grounded's high-barrier moulded fibre carries home and industrial compost certifications as well as marine degradation and paper recyclability. It is completely free from coating or lamination of any kind and as a similar barrier to aluminium.
The good?
- Completely compostable (or biodegradable) in both home and industrial compost conditions, as well as in marine environments
- Does not break down into micro-plastic particles
- Reduces reliance on fossil fuels and relies solely on agricultural waste fiber that would otherwise likely be burned
The bad?
- More expensive than traditional virgin plastic materials
- Composting rates are currently relatively low
- Less durable that plastics which can have an effect on product suitability
